First responders responded to a stretch of Mechanics Valley Road in North East near the intersection of Deans Lane at approximately 9:45 p.m. on Wednesday, July 6, according to the Cecil County Sheriff’s Office.

The rider lost control and crashed - possibly due to a deer in the roadway - before ending up in a nearby wooded area, they said.

Investigators did not release the motorcyclist's name or age.

Following the crash, Mechanicsville Valley Road was closed between Bouchelle Road and Stevenson Road for several hours until it was reopened shortly before midnight.

No other details were immediately released by police.
